PLANT NEMATOLOGY LAB
About Us
The Nematology Lab at the University of Hawai'i at Manoa is a specialized research lab dedicated to the study of nematodes, which are a diverse group of microscopic worms. Nematodes are found in various environments, including soil, water, and plants, and they play significant roles in ecosystem processes, soil ecosystem, and agricultural food productions. The lab conducts research on nematodes, exploring areas such as taxonomy, physiology, ecology, behavior, and molecular biology. Researchers and graduate students in this lab investigate free-living and plant-parasitic nematodes, aiming to understand their biology and interactions with other organisms, and also investigates the potential of different entomopathogenic nematode species as biological control agents for different insect pests. The lab serves as a hub for education and training in nematology. Graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, and visiting scholars have the opportunity to conduct research, attend workshops, and collaborate with experts in the field. The lab also offers specialized courses in nematology, teaching students about nematode biology, ecology, and control methods.
